Wayne Cobb - Drums
Kick - Vocals
Deviant - Guitar
Niall Coady - Bass
ABOUT:
Catch-as-catch-can band hobbled together by Kick to take advantage of a gig offer.
Immediately split-up after said gig. More proof that a great drummer can make a terrible
band truly mediocre.
LIVE HIGHLIGHT:
Playing in the cafeteria of a Junior High and being stopped
during first song because of the word "naked", allowed to
continue after 15 minute argument, then asked to leave after
second song.
active: 1983 | Victoria, BC (Canada) | no recordings |
Wayne Cobb - Drums
Deviant - Guitar
Nick Lawless - Bass
Angelo - Guitar
ABOUT:
Half of WCE re-grouped to form a more cohesive, mostly straight ahead
rock band. Tight, but not particularly interesting.
active: 1983-84 | Victoria, BC (Canada) | discog |
Kick - Drums, Vocals
Deviant - Guitar, Vocals
Time Machine - Bass, Vocals
Norm Crumb - Percussion, Trumpet
ABOUT:
Avant-garde art-punk/new wave. Early incarnation that went on the
back burner for a couple of years then re-focussed and re-formed in Vancouver.
Interesting, but not particularly tight.
active: 1983-84 | Vancouver, BC (Canada) | discog |
Deviant - Guitar, Vocals
Larry Liar - Guitar, Vocals

ABOUT:
Quasi-hardcore with a future-looking socio-political bent. More prophecy than
paranoia in retrospect. Larry & Ludwig moved to Toronto in 1985.

Deviant - Guitar, Keyboards, Vocals

Kick - Drums, Vocals
Deviant - Guitar, Vocals
Michael Lewis - Bass, Vocals
ABOUT:
Reformed and revamped with a more focused weirdo art-punk aesthetic, but the chops
never matched the ideas. Lewis and Deviant found it increasingly difficult to work
within the unit and bowed out in turn, leaving Kick to start again with a slightly altered
name and with all the creative and business control he desired.
LIVE HIGHLIGHTS:
Opening for Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (Halloween 1986); disastrous yet glorious show with Omnisquid
that lead to Discorder's "Worst New Band of 1986" award.

ABOUT:
After the disintegration of Vertical Laughter, Michael Lewis spent some time in
The Fabulous Wallies then reached out to Deviant to start something new. Rock with

that ended up out before the Six Inches release came out (which included two
mixes of a Bloody Mary-era studio track).

Jim Naked - Rants
Dave Shameless - Guitar
ABOUT:
A spontaneously evolving lounge happening centered around Jim's alcohol-fueled rants.
Keyword: unsustainable. Jim eventually drifted off to travel the world while "Dave"
went solo for a short time before retiring, only to resurface a decade later with
a new Naked and a different oeuvre.
